May Update on the 2019-2020 Club Season

11 May 2020 by Ashley Fowler

Hello All!

Thank you all for your patience. As you know, this has caused chaos in so many aspects of our lives including the sports we love. We finally received answers to the rest of the season, the summer and what we are looking to do to make this up for next season. We have been in touch with area gyms owners, and club directors to see what is the best way to handle this and new ways to stay in touch and train virtually. Below is an update for Texas Synergy Volleyball. Please read carefully and let me know if you have any questions! Ashley@texassynergy.com or 512-689-8555. USAV
USAV, with hopes of still hosting qualifiers and nationals, has been postponing those events as long as they can. USAV continues to extend their non sanctioning of events, practices, tournaments and trainings, every few weeks. As well as each city having its own ordinance and extentions. This has caused enough uncertainty and difficulty trying to reschedule events that most national qualifiers have been cancelled. Here is a list of those cancelled.
https://www.teamusa.org/usa-volleyball/events/girls-indoor/2020-girls-junior-national-qualifiers

- As of now, Lone Star Regionals has been cancelled for 12s-14s and 18s division.
- Lone Star Regionals is holding out for 15s-17s but its not guaranteed with the USAV Sanction extensions coming out every few weeks. Most teams have dropped from that event. Due to no practice facility and the uncertainty fo when and where. We have dropped from Regionals as well.
- Las Vegas and Kansas City have been cancelled.

USAV Sanctions
- All clubs are only allowed to host trainings or events if sanctioned via usav. We have to submit our dates, places and receive insurance to host any trainings under our USAV membership.
- Hosting anything outside of USAV sanctions can have consequences with the clubs membership.
- Not being sanctioned leaves clubs vulnerable to law suits if anyone is injured, or hurt during a training or event. Without this insurance most places will not rent out to you to host trainings or events. Including school districts and RRSC.

Season Fees & The Crediting of them for next season
We were about 70% into our season as far as tournaments, gear and trainings. We are offering a 30% credit to next seasons fees for National and Regional levels. The break down is listed below.

Make Up Virtual Training for March – April
Trainings are still included in your credits towards next season. Although virtual training is great, we want to make sure you are still getting on the court training. If the ban ends at any point before August, we are looking into small group sessions instead of virtual trainings. These will be optional and only once deemed safe, and we are able to host.
These will Roll out May 20th.They will be shared on the Summer Training Calendar (Formerly Try Outs and Clinics Calendar on team app) Please do these on top of any personal work out sent to you after your initial zoom with the director.

Zoom Meetings
We will host a 30 min. zoom meeting with parents, players and the director. Please fill out the form at the end of this message to be scheduled for your One on One zoom meeting. The email address you use in this form is what we will use to send the meeting invite.
This meeting will address where we ended the season and what you can be doing at home to improve and where we see you for next season. We will set up a series of these as check ins but we want to make sure we get everyones initial meeting in the next 2 weeks.

Please note, for all zoom meetings a legal guardian or adult must be present as well. This is a requirement via USAV.

Try Outs for 2020-2021
We feel our teams were just warming up, and starting to click and improve. We would like to keep the teams together as best we can. And will be using this last season as our try out for returning players. This means, all returning players are guaranteed a position on a team for the 2020-2021 season. It may not be the same level as last season if their is room to move up or down. We will ask for commitment on that to make sure our teams are full and set for next season and we are only recruiting what is needed.

Anyone wishing to try out for a TSV team can submit a video of their highlights or games to be considered to ashley@texassynergy.com.
Some clubs have try outs dates up for July and August. We are waiting for the ban to lift before advertising ours.

We will look to get teams together in late August early September for pre season un official scrimmages against Meridian and other area clubs.

We are not hosting any summer camps or clinics as of now. If and when we are able to all members are able to attend free. Registration will be necessary as we are limiting any possible summer trainings to 10 per session.

Recruiting
If you are interested in playing college volleyball, we will be hosting some webinars and scheduling zoom meetings to review the process, and what you should be doing now and what we as a club can offer and help with.

We hope you all are staying safe, and healthy. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. We can’t wait to meet with you all, and for this to all be over and see you back on the courts!
